Some highlights of the latest EDA I’ve read (Trading Futures).

I took these screens while reading, along with my reactions. As usual, this is full of spoilers.

When you don’t like an author’s book because you find it pretentious and unpleasant, that’s one thing. When you don’t like a second book from the same author for the exact same reason, you’re starting to think you don’t like that author in general.

Once again (and I copied this directly from my Father Time review), it’s tedious, the characters aren’t particularly interesting, the Doctor is kind of OOC, the antagonist is boringly cliché, and I even ended up skimming some paragraphs. Once again, there is the author’s constant palpable smugness. And on top of everything else, there’s a plot point which was already used (and much better, too) in the previous book: the idea of a neverending war being good for the economy.

There’s a lot of funny scenes in this book, though. Thank god. 4/10

Ok so I’m not gonna lie I think the plot is a bit boring.

Now this bit is weird. It’s reusing the word Elementals, from Henrietta Street, to describe the Time Lords, but not in a 18th century context, where it actually made sense.

10/10 DIALOGUE

Dude. I want to like this book. I really do. It’s fairly boring but at least it’s funny. Why do you feel the need to mock the rest of the books constantly.
